NEWARK, Del. — The St. Mark’s/Tower Hill and DMA/Tatnall combined hockey teams won their respective Inter-County Scholastic Hockey League season openers on Monday night (Jan. 25) at the Patriot Ice Center.

St. Mark’s/Tower Hill 4, Bishop Shanahan 2

The Spartans established a 2-0 lead over the Eagles in the first period and maintained their advantage throughout. Will Ralsten accounted for two of the Spartans’ goals, with Nick Lawson and Salesianum transfer Braden Cras scoring one goal each. Nick Butler and Rachel Clevens each registered two assists, and freshman goalie Jackson Kersetter saved 16 of 18 shots faced.

St. Mark’s/Tower Hill is slated to host Sun Valley on Friday (Jan. 29).

DMA/Tatnall 10, Archbishop Ryan 0

The Seahawks unleashed an offensive tour de force on Archbishop Ryan to win their season opener, led by a four-goal performance from Collin Beaman and a hat trick from Andrew Henry.

DMA/Tatnall wasted no time setting the tone, scoring two goals in the first 4:05 and limiting Ryan to eight shots in the first two periods. The Seahawks’ power play unit helped them maintain sustained dominance, accounting for four goals in seven opportunities — including two from Beaman and one from Zeke DiChiaro, the latter of which prompted the early end to the game at 11:06 in the third period.

Justin Marvel earned a shutout in net for DMA/Tatnall. Sean Taggart (Ryan) was ejected from the game for spearing midway in the third period.

DMA/Tatnall travel to Ice Line in West Chester, Pa., to face Harriton on Monday (Feb. 1).
