Harrington, Del. — The Harrington Havoc earned three of four potential points in Delaware High School Hockey League play this weekend, defeating the Delco Dragons, 10-3, on Friday (Jan. 25) before rallying to a 3-3 tie with Hodgson/Caravel on Saturday (Jan. 26).
T.J. Polisano led the Havoc with a hat trick and two assists in their rout of the Dragons at IceWorks in Aston, Pa., while Anthony Mazza and Cody Fairbank recorded a goal and two assists apiece. T.J. Marcellino recorded 11 saves on 14 shots faced.
On Saturday at the Delaware State Fairgrounds, the Havoc battled back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the Hodgson/Caravel Silver Bucs. Following early goals from Gavin Terescuk and Tony Mrozowski to give the Bucs a 2-0 advantage, Chris Claycomb finished from a Polisano assist to bring the Havoc within one with 4:10 left in the second period.
With 2:13 elapsed in the third period, Jordan Krawczyk extended the Silver Bucs’ lead back to two, but after Mazza connected off a Chris Claycomb assist, Polisano potted the game-tying goal for the Havoc with 55 seconds remaining in regulation.
Delaware Stars 16A Splits Weekend Series
In Delaware Valley Hockey League action, the Delaware Stars 16A squad fell to Lehigh Valley, 6-3, on Saturday at the State Fairgrounds before defeating Delco, 7-3, on Sunday (Jan. 27) at IceWorks.
Despite a hat trick from Gavin Schwartz, the Stars were overpowered late, giving up four third-period goals to Lehigh Valley. R.J. Giering put the Phantoms ahead with a short-handed goal — his first of two tallies — with 8:01 left in regulation. Parker Leight and Matt Boyer also contributed two goals each; Leight added two assists as well. T.J. Marcellino stopped 19 of 25 shots faced in defeat.
The Stars responded on Sunday at IceWorks with a 7-3 win over the Delco Phantoms. Schwartz led the Stars’ charge with four goals and an assist, including a natural hat trick in the second period. Polisano accounted for a goal and two assists, Mazza recorded three helpers, and both Collin and Trent Jaksch added a goal each.
